Why I call myself Hearing Impaired

Why I call myself Hearing Impaired...

1. I find it easier to say and it rolls off my tongue clearer

2. I find people understand it faster. I often have to explain myself further when I say hard of hearing

3. While I understand people are not fond of the word impaired, I have no issue with it as my hearing is impaired.

If certain words trigger you, I ask you to reflect on them and understand why. When I was first diagnosed I was HUGELY triggered when anyone would reference my hearing loss because I had not accepted it yet

Now, I am not including rude vindictive people when I say this because sadly those people will always exist but words should not hold that much power over us.

I like to remember/ focus on that actions speak louder than words.
